Internship @ Anikey

So I've been an intern at Anikey for almost two weeks now and so far it's been great! They are really cool and awesome! And they read my blog, so I can't say anything negative otherwise they will keelhaul me...

Anyway here's a little concept piece from the TOP SECRET project I'm working on over there...

"What goes up..." selected for Holland Animation Film Festival!

Aaaaw yeah! "What goes up..." has been selected for the Holland Animation Film Festival (or; HAFF)

It's the first time for me to have one of my films on a festival so it's all very exciting and new, like the cookie in the store you've always wanted to steal but couldn't. You know what, that isn't really the greatest symbolic but what the hell! HAFF, here I come!

Just finished a very very short absurd animation thingy. The background was a fun expiriment to work on, I like how it turned out. Animation can be found here.

Satanic things

I'm thinking about working on a new comic again. I dug up a story concept I had some years ago and revisited some of the sketches...
I'm not sure yet but I like the setting and I'm in the mood for some satanic storytelling so maybe I'll start writing a outline one of these days...

Oh man, I'm so happy that we finally have a new monkey island game after almost ten years. I also like the fact that it's episodic. That way I have something to look forward to every month! Anyway, so far I'm really liking the story and the new desings, so like in the old days... it's fanart time!

I've been replaying the most excellent game Psychonauts again these days. If you haven't played it yet, stop whatever your doing right now and go play it. And if you don't have it, buy it. And if you don't have any money, rob a bank. And if you don't know how to rob a bank, watch the first episode of Prison Break. Although that isn't exactly a good idea because the protagonist of that show is planning to get himself thrown in jail to break out his brother who is framed for a murder he didn't commit. Eventually they break out but they get involved with a gigantic evil company called... the Company. Anyway, it all ends pretty mediocre...

But Psychonauts is really cool!

The following animation can be confusing, mostly because of the use of two languages in a new, fresh and creative way... or because of the images... so without further ado, I present my latest animation (which is not the final animation of the schoolyear by the way, that one will have a wee bit more actual animation to it...)

Well the musical turned out to be pretty cool after all!
Especially the character of Dieter Ullrich became quite populair so I decided to do a digital painting of him.

Sorry for not updating in a while, I've been busy like a kangaroo (I know that's not an expression, but hey... who cares...)

Anyway, today started the last part of my 2nd year of animation and I'm finally starting the production of my animation which is now called "What goes up...". I've posted the new updated character designs below, which are far more dynamic than the previous few.

I'm planning to post some more old(ish) work later this week!

Über-sketch-action-post 4000 XP PRO!!!

Well, time for some sketches...
Two weeks ago, I had a quicksketch seminar which was really fun to do. Here are some of the sketches from that week...

The first day was people drawing day:



The second day we went to the zoo in Rotterdam, were the infamous Bokito resides. This was the first time I tried sketching animals, which turned out to be pretty hard because they can't stay still, especially the monkeys (which were awesome, by the way)



The third day we went to Haarlem were we spended most of the time walking in and around the giant church. It was very cold that day so I didn't do much...



These last three pieces have nothing to do with the seminar, just something I was doodling last night in the train.
